A guide to Michelangelo’s artworks in Florence!

See them all with our private guided tour in the footsteps of Michelangelo.

Michelangelo’s masterpieces are a “must see” when you are here.

In Florence, the most famous masterpiece by him is obviously David. In the Bible’s story young David defeats the Philistine Giant Goliath in a single combat. In Florence, David has a deep and strong meaning. He is the weaker defender that is able to kill a great enemy, this makes of him the defender of the Florentine Republic against all tyrants.

With express entrance tickets and our guided tour of the Accademy Gallery (Galleria dell’Accademia), you will be left speechless by  David and all his impressive anatomical details that only a perfectionist such as Michelangelo could have depicted. Once outside the Accademy Gallery I suggest you to visit the Duomo Museum (Museo dell’Opera del Duomo), where, among works by Filippo Brunelleschi, Donatello, Andrea Pisano and other important artists, there is a touching “Pietà” sculpted by Michelangelo.

This statue was thought to be a decoration for his tomb. Thanks to it you will have the chance to understand Michelangelo’s ideas and state of mind during his last suffering years of life. The Accademy Gallery and the Duomo Museum  could be enough to know Michelangelo’s extraordinary personality, but I’d like to accompany you to discover more and to meet more of Michelangelo’s sculptures in Florence.

Here is a list of them: an extraordinary crucifix in Santo Spirito Church, the place where he dissected corpses in order to study the human anatomy; his famous and very discussed Bacchus; the gorgeous Lorenzo de’ Medici’s tomb in the Medici Chapels.

Shall I go on? Well, if you are an avid lover of the divine Michelangelo, you can’t miss to visit his house in Santa Croce district as well as his tomb in Santa Croce church. With so much about Michelangelo to see in Florence, you will probably need an advice!  For this reason I ask you to drop me a few lines to tell me about your interest in Michelangelo’s sculptures in Florence and I will create for you a private customized guided tour of Michelangelo’s works in Florence.
