This Gardens tour is a guided itinerary studied for lovers of open green spaces and for those who want to relax outdoors in nature having a break from the crowds and the heat of the city for a few hours. We will visit together a selection of the best gardens of Florence and Tuscany, splendid gardens that have become famous worldwide for their harmonious Renaissance architecture and peaceful atmosphere.
Tuscany has an incredible number of historic gardens, most of which were designed during Renaissance times and built on panoramic positions as most of Tuscany is hilly. Men had to literally mold the territory in order to create geometrically perfect gardens enhancing the beauty of the villas which were always at their center. Tuscany boasts hundreds of historical gardens, many of which are open to visitors and witness the search for harmony and elegance which was typical of Renaissance times.
We will discover how the garden evolved from the Middle Ages to Renaissance until Modern Times learning how they were designed and what determined the choice of the plants to be used, taking special care in the hidden meaning of certain trees and flowers.
Boboli Garden at Palazzo Pitti, the charming Roses Garden with sculptures by the Belgian artist Folon, Bardini Garden with its spectacular wisteria tunnel, Torrigiani Garden with its Masonic symbols, are the most noteworthy gardens within Florence borders. They are a true green oasis where visitors can leave behind the crowds of the city center , but they can still enjoy amazing views of it.
Here we will visit the garden of Villa Gamberaia which fascinated the American writer Edith Wharton as well as many other foreign poets and artists who were strongly inspired by the unique atmosphere of this garden and by the breathtaking view over Florence.
Let’s go even further to the beautiful Lucca where you will fall in love with the incredible collections of camellias in the gardens of Villa Reale and of the other villas of this area.
Spring will be the perfect time to join our tour during the Camellias Festival which is held every year in the most beautiful gardens around Lucca, however if you are coming in the summer your eyes will be delighted by the view of the many lemon and citrus trees that are never missing in our Tuscan gardens, while all year round you will be stunned by the Renaissance statues and fountains and the mysterious grottos that enrich these impressive gardens.
