My Florence in one day tour is often chosen by those who come to Florence just for the weekend and want to grab the city unique atmosphere quickly. Florence is so overwelming in terms of history and art and having a local guide beside you, will help you to discover the unmissable places of the city.
This year the tourist season started with a cheerful family from northern Italy made up of parents, uncles and cousins. In their contact request, they asked me to see all of Florence and perhaps enter some "famous churches". They had two days only to visit the city, so I suggested them to see the highlights of Florence on the first day, in order to help them to orientate themselves in the "cradle of Renaissance" and then I suggested them to visit Santa Croce Church as well as Santa Maria Novella.
In the half day tour you will see Duomo Square and Signoria Square, the two most important squares of Florence. We will then proceed to Ponte Vecchio, the oldest bridge of Florence, and to the so called ‘Piglet Market’ where you will have to toss a coin in order to have good luck! We will walk through the charming alleys of the Medieval district so get ready to spot tall tower houses that were built in the XIIth century! At the end of your half day tour you will have learned about daily life in the Middle Ages, Renaissance art and Florentine history!
A full day tour will also include the visit of a museum, a church or why not, a garden of your choice. Don’t fill your visit of Florence with too many places! If you’re travelling with your family I recommend you to visit the city at a slow pace. Remember that it’s not important to visit everything, but to grab the essence and the atmosphere of the city! It’s also nice to stroll around in the markets of Florence or to sit down on a rooftop bar enjoying an Italian Espresso or a Spritz!
That is why together with historical information and fun anecdotes concerning the city, I like to talk about how we live in Florence, our daily life and traditions, our favorite restaurants or cafés and so on. I want to let you experience Florence as a local and not only as a tourist, thus I will help you to find some hidden gems and some local spots beside the top tourist attractions of Florence!
My Florence in one day tour is a tailor made tour, so don’t forget to let me know the age of your family members and what you’d like to see the most, let me know if you’re more interested in art or if you prefer to focus our tour on the Florentine traditions, such as food or artisans workhops. Help me to plan the best tour for you and I will help you to have the most memorable visit of Florence! Contact me for further information!
